Ofentse Tsipa: The 2 Secrets Behind a Lasting Marriage
South African-born life coach Ofentse Tsipa has opened up about the key to making her marriage work.
Now 36, Ofentse lives in Kenya with her Dutch husband and their two children—a daughter and a son.
She spoke to Mpasho following her debut on the reality TV series "Mommy Club Nairobi," which follows the lives of five mothers. The show premiered on 29 May at the Aspire Centre in Westlands, Nairobi.
A student at United States International University-Africa (USIU-Africa), Ofentse candidly reflected on the joys and challenges of marriage, relationships, and motherhood.
Having been married twice, Ofentse said she is determined to ensure the longevity of her current marriage.
“Marriage works when there is commitment and communication. You just need to decide that you want to be in the marriage. I’ve been married twice—this is my second marriage, and I hope it’s the last,” she shared.
“I’m committed to making it work, like till the wheels come off,” she added.
Motherhood, she said, has played a pivotal role in shaping her ambition and driving her to pursue her dreams with purpose.
“I think motherhood has given me ambition. It’s given me drive. It’s made me want to do something outside of myself—something bigger than me. That’s really pushed me to go after my dreams with gusto and strength,” Ofentse explained. She also expressed excitement at being cast in Mommy Club Nairobi, revealing that appearing on reality TV had always been a dream of hers.
She mentioned being a fan of shows like Real Housewives of Nairobi, which helped inspire her aspirations.
“Oh my goodness—it felt so surreal. I couldn’t believe it. It felt like I was in a dream. I love watching reality TV, and the first time I saw Real Housewives of Nairobi, I thought to myself, ‘Hmm... maybe I want to be part of something like this,’” she said.
“Being part of Mommy Club is like realising a beautiful dream—being on a reality show and telling my story. It’s a fantastic opportunity,” she added.
Ofentse also stated that she is deeply satisfied with the life she has built and wouldn’t trade places with any of her co-stars.
“I love my life. I really do. I built it brick by brick, and I wouldn’t choose anything else. It’s a beautiful life,” she said with a smile.
The show’s diverse cast—which includes a model, DJ, makeup artist, and Kenyan actress—explores the multifaceted lives of mothers who are balancing personal ambitions with professional commitments.
The 13-part series airs on Showmax every Friday, offering an intimate look into the real lives of these modern women.
Mommy Club Nairobi is produced by Eugene Mbugua, the creator behind the hit reality series The Real Housewives of Nairobi, also streaming on Showmax.
