Diamond Platnumz: Why He Prioritizes Music Over Marriage
WCB Wasafi Record Label proprietor, Diamond Platnumz has made it clear that at the moment, he wants his fans to focus more on his music than his love affairs.
Speaking to Afrobeats podcast in the UK, seven years after his debut performance at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, Diamond Platnumz, however, addressed swirling rumors about his relationship and recent lowkey wedding.
The singer confirmed that a "real" wedding is on the horizon while making a clear plea to his dedicated fanbase to keep the focus on his chart-topping music, not his romantic entanglements.
"The real one is coming... the celebrations and all that haven't started yet. So, to my fans, wait for the celebration, for now, the lion that represents Tanzania remains focused on his global musical conquest,” he requested the fans.On why he didn’t publicize his alleged wedding with Zuchu, Diamond said;
"I didn't want people to start losing focus from my music and start focusing on my relationship all that so that maybe sometime next time when you go to the show people say oh you yeah what you... you know, people sometimes don't understand."
For months, online chatter has linked Diamond Platnumz to fellow Tanzanian artist and WCB Wasafi signee, Zuchu, with speculation peaking around an alleged traditional wedding ceremony.
A few days ago, we reported on their rumored relationship and a private traditional ceremony.
During the interview, Diamond himself confirmed that a "traditional thing" did happen back in the day, but unequivocally stated, it wasn't official.
“Yes, it happened, we did back in the day honestly. I don't want to lie to you back in the day, but it wasn't official. It was just a little something a few people like nobody knew anything and we had it back in the days but I didn't want people to know. I just decided to keep it private and all that," he elaborated.
Diamond explained the motivation behind keeping such a significant event under wraps is clear, highlighting the challenge entertainers face when their personal lives overshadow theirHe firmly believes that fans sometimes don't understand the distinction between his public persona and private reality.
"I'm an entertainer when I go about my work, don't start bringing, oh, what about your girlfriend? What about your wife? I'm working here. It's like I'm shooting a music video with a lady. It's like whoever does a movie. So, you have to take it that way. Do not take it negatively or in the wrong way."
